Name the Open Strings

Learn the names of the 6 open guitar strings using the note display.

Instructions

  1. Open ChordColor and make sure Guitar is selected as the instrument.
  2. Set the level to 1 (Notes Only) using the level selector above the chord picker.
  3. Look at the open string labels on the left side of the fretboard: E, A, D, G, B, E.
  4. Remember the mnemonic: Every Amateur Does Get Better Eventually.
  5. Click different frets and notice how note names change as you move up the neck.
TIP

The thickest string (low E) is at the bottom of the fretboard display. Each fret raises the pitch by one half step.
