ChordColor ("we", "us", "our") operates the website chordcolor.com. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our service.
ChordColor is designed to work without requiring any personal information. We do not require account creation, login, or any form of registration. Your instrument selections, tuning preferences, and theme settings are stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage and are never transmitted to our servers.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with ChordColor. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data including pages visited, session duration, device type, browser, and approximate geographic location. This data helps us improve the tool and understand which features are most useful to musicians. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
ChordColor may display advertisements through Google AdSense or similar advertising networks. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to ChordColor or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
When you connect a MIDI instrument to ChordColor, all MIDI data (note on/off messages, channel data) is processed entirely within your browser. No MIDI data is transmitted to any server. The WebMIDI connection is between your device and your browser only.
ChordColor itself does not set cookies. However, third-party services we use (Google Analytics, advertising networks) may set cookies on your device. You can control cookie behavior through your browser settings.
Since we do not collect personal data directly, there is no personal data for us to retain or delete. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's data retention policies. Your local preferences can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you similar rights regarding your personal information. Because ChordColor does not collect personal data directly — your preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted to our servers — there is generally no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. However, third-party services (Google Analytics, advertising networks) may process data subject to these regulations. You can manage this through Google's Ad Settings, the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or by contacting us at chase@chordcolor.com with any data-related requests.
ChordColor does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The service is a general-purpose music education tool available to users of all ages.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of ChordColor after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
