Drum Machine

The ChordColor drum machine is a 16-step sequencer with 8 drum pieces: kick, snare, closed hi-hat, open hi-hat, crash cymbal, ride cymbal, low tom, and high tom. Each piece is assigned its own color, and the step grid lights up as the sequence plays, giving you a visual representation of the rhythm pattern. Tap any cell in the grid to toggle a hit on or off, building your own patterns step by step.

Eight preset patterns are included covering essential genres: Rock (straight eighth-note hi-hat with backbeat snare), Funk (syncopated kick and ghost notes), Bossa Nova (the classic Brazilian clave-based pattern), Hip-Hop (boom-bap with swung hi-hats), and more. Loading a preset fills the grid instantly, and you can modify any step to customize the pattern. The visual grid makes it easy to see the rhythmic structure -- where the kick anchors the downbeats, where the snare hits the backbeat, and how hi-hat patterns create the overall feel.

Rhythm Visualization

Unlike pitched instruments where ChordColor uses interval colors, the drum machine uses piece-specific colors. This approach lets you see at a glance which instruments are active on each step. The moving playhead highlights the current step during playback, creating a visual pulse that helps you feel the groove while seeing its structure.
